Chinese revelers rang in the New Year with fireworks and festivities including Peking Opera performances and red lantern shows yesterday as President Hu Jintao called for steady and relatively fast economic development in a New Year address.
"We will work with people of all countries to jointly build a harmonious world of lasting peace and common prosperity," Hu said.
