Crabapple Trees Blossoming in Winter
Adjust font size:
Two Chinese flowering crabapple trees have been found to be blossoming in November, after first flowering in April, according to Shanghai Morning Post.

Hu called the paper to say that two trees in the courtyard of the factory where he worked were in bloom.

"Usually these crabapple trees produce red flowers in March or April. This is the first time I have seen them bloom for a second time within a year," he said.

A botanist explained that the unusual phenomenon was caused by the warm weather this November. "High temperatures, abundant sunlight and the humidity are enough to cause it to happen." He said that some redbuds had also begun to bloom again.
