Adjust font size:
The Beijing Municipal Government has fulfilled the targets for environment protection as set by the State Council and 37 key projects through hard work, said a team of inspectors from the State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA) and the State Planning and Development Commission.

The team entrusted by the State Council has inspected the environmental status in the city from February 19 through 21.

Xie Zhenhua, the director of SEPA, said that the city has not only tackled its environmental problems in the period of 1998-2002, but also helped stimulate the work in other cities and bring about tremendous impacts in the world.

Xie Said that Beijing has worked out its pollution control plan for 2003 through 2007 and the key lies in practical implementation in the coming five years. He added that the key is to restructure the industrial and energy mix and tackle auto mobile tail gas.
