Early Weaning Speeds Panda's Breeding
Adjust font size:

Recent scientific research shows that early weaning is a good way to increase the reproduction rate of pandas.

Experts from Chengdu Panda Breeding research center in southwest China say it usually takes 6 to 8 months for lactating female pandas to feed their young.

Early weaning would shorten this phase and make them breed more frequently.

Panda's are among the worlds most endangered animals. Their slow pace of breeding is a challenge for scientists trying to protect the species.
