Singer Man Wenjun was arrested for drug scandal

Chinese singer Man Wenjun was exposed in 2009 not for his music but for his drug scandal. The 40-year-old singer, his wife and ten other people were caught using drugs during his wife's birthday party at the Coco Banana club in Beijing, May 19. Man spent 14 days in a detention center before he was released. He made a public apology on TV. His wife Li Li, however, was convicted, sentenced to a year in prison and fined 2,000 yuan (US$286). Fortunately, Man's record company did not abandon him and is now planning his comeback.
Man shot to fame in 1996 with the hit single "I Understand You All the Time." He served as the ambassador for at least two charity organizations before the scandal.
