Gong Li was awarded Best Actress at the 24th Montreal World Film Festival, the 20th Golden Rooster Awards in 2000, the 10th Shanghai Film Critics Awards, the 23rd Hundred Flowers Awards and the eighth Golden Phoenix Awards in 2001 for her acting in the film "Breaking the Silence."
