Editor's note:

The Chinese film market will see seven potential blockbusters released together on the first day of the lunar New Year (Feb. 19) as the most competitive New Year film season ever gets underway.

Besides the seven movies listed below, films such as Xu Jinglei's romance "Somewhere Only We Know" and Hollywood’s "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 1" will also join in the ratings battle during the screening schedule. Disney's animated "Big Hero 6" will launched Feb. 28, as the Chinese Spring Festival heads to its official conclusion with the Lantern Festival (March 5).

The upcoming film adaption of the Chinese best-selling novel of the same name definitely is the top-rated with the domestic audience. The wild epic, in production for nearly 10 years and with most of scenes involving real wolves, focuses on the relationship between humans and nature. French director Jean-Jacques Annaud presents a touching classic designed to raise public concerns about wild life and reflect misguided human actions to forcibly change the ecological balance in the life cycle as wolves maintain their nature, dignity and freedom on the beautifully presented grassland on the big screen.
