Chinese actress Yao Chen met with world class photographer Annie Leibovitz in Hong Kong recently, where Leibovitz exhibited her works at a photography show.

Leibovitz is a top-class photographer in her genre, producing many famous images, including that of John Lennon hugging Yoko Ono, as well as Demi Moore's then-controversial semi-nude pregnancy photo.

Yao worked with Leibovitz last year when she posed for the Pirelli calendar, which is published by the world's fifth-largest tire manufacturer.

It was the moment the Pirelli calendar, widely known for is racy pictures of sultry models and celebrities, shifted its focus towards women's inner strength, when powerful female figures like Yao, tennis player Serena Williams and comedian Amy Schumer were featured.

Yao was selected to be on the calendar's cover, not only because she is a prominent actress in China, but also an active philanthropist. She was named as UNHCR's Honorary Patron for China in 2011. In 2014, Time magazine included her on the list of 100 global celebrities. The Fujian-native was also listed as the 83rd most powerful woman in the world by Forbes in 2014.

A year after the pair met at that photo shoot, Yao gave Leibovitz a gift: a Chinese tea set. Leibovitz says she looks forward to shooting family photos with Yao, when her second child is born.
