The sought-after gown with Chinese elements

The use of Chinese elements in fashion designing has become prominent in recent years.

Various luxury fashion brands like Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana have introduced collections with a touch of Chinese style, hoping to create some additional luster to their products.

"Everyone, even foreigners, are vying to get a beautiful gown in the Chinese style, because Chinese haute couture is one of the most exquisite and elegant of all," Xu asserted proudly.

Making an haute couture creation is time-consuming. Most of Xu's works each take at least 20 days to finish, and some even need over half a year due to dozens of procedures passing through the hands of dozens of artisans.

"A lot of people might think I'm crazy to take so much time for a piece of clothing," said Xu. "However, I do not take it as a product, but rather as a piece of art."

Besides focusing on haute couture in garments, Xu plans to build his own fashion kingdom including interior design, jewelry and accessories all with a distinctive Chinese style.
