The disorder began as early as the eve of the event, when fans were already lining up in the red carpet zone. More and more anxious people chaotically packed into the space throughout the night and the next day, causing huge security concerns and complaints. There were also rumors and misinformation spread during the chaos, leading some loyal fans, many of whom had traveled from other cities or even from abroad, to miss the opportunity to meet their idols.
At the same time, diehard Marvel fans were given fewer free tickets from sponsors and promoters than were the fans of singers such as Eason Chan, Jane Zhang and Jason Zhang, who were invited to perform at the event despite having no connection to the film. Marvel fans also complained that Chinese entertainers took the most prominent positions onstage while "Avengers" stars had to stand flanking them during group photos.
Marvel Studios China posted an apology to its official Weibo account on Friday, stating that while they are very proud to have loyal fans and have been trying new ways to introduce their films to more people, they let down their "most treasured" fans this time. They said they "take all responsibility and sincerely apologize to those who have supported Marvel Studios."
