Last year, the group's organizers took Spittoon on a three-city tour, holding a series of readings, discussions, workshops and social events in Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai. They now have partnered with a Chengdu-based organizer to run a regular Spittoon poetry series there as well.
In addition to its live events, the group also formed an editorial team in 2016 headed by Byrne as director, Simon Shieh of the U.S. as editor-in-chief and Chen Bo of China as managing editor, and began publishing Spittoon Literary Magazine, which features Chinese- and English-language literary works and visual art from both local and international artists living in China.
The magazine's third issue was released in January of this year and is sold at The Beijing Bookworm and at the group's events, as well as online through Amazon, though Byrne noted that they hope to find more venues to sell the publication in the future. Issue 4 of Spittoon Literary Magazine is due out in June, as is Spittoon's first "CUE" (Chinese Urban Expression) Comic Book, which will feature commissioned contributions from young artists in China.
