9. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom 

The latest installment from Universal's Jurassic franchise, "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom," directed by Spanish horror filmmaker J.A. Bayona, opened in Chinese mainland cinemas a week earlier than its debut in North America. Monster films are a hugely popular genre in China, while Jurassic Park franchise from the first movie onwards has taken Chinese audience for thrilling rides multiple times in past two decades and created a dinosaur-mania. With the previous installment grossing US$228.74 million in China, it built a bigger fanbase and high expectations for the sequel. "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" eventually took a US$1.3 billion bite out of the global box office, with US$261 million contributed by China. The film is the highest grossing installment of Jurassic franchise in the Chinese market so far.
