In 2016, Huang earned his doctor's degree for directing from Beijing Film Academy.
Speaking about his latest play, Huang says: "Many of my students are not Beijing natives. They leave hometowns to pursue their dreams to become directors, either film directors or theater directors. It's hard for them to start their careers after graduation. They go through bad days and are often clueless about their future. I want to dedicate this play to them, to those who stick to their dreams despite the difficulties."
The plays tells the story of an art graduate, Qi Tianyi, who is struggling to find her dream job and accidentally becomes a patissier.
Life is Always Sweet took Huang about two years to complete.
Meanwhile, the new play's premiere at Beijing's Star Theater on July 24 will coincide with a performance of his earlier play, To Be Continued, at the same venue.
