Martial artist Jackie Chan mourned his late peer Ng Man-tat on March 9.
The legendary actor Ng died last month of liver cancer at 71. Chan, who's in Beijing, sent a wreath to bid final farewell to Ng at his funeral on March 7.
"Ng's acting career perfectly encapsulates the common saying, 'there are no small parts, only small actors.' He took every role seriously and made the best of it, and always performed with his own characteristics. This is easier said than done," he said to People's Daily on Tuesday.
Chan added that the record-breaking Chinese box office total during this year's Spring Festival boosted his confidence in the Chinese film industry.
"The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic has quietly changed the pattern of the world. Our whole country has stood the test of the pandemic with united power, heart and soul. If the pandemic were not controlled, various industries, including the film industry, would not be able to recover so quickly," he pointed out, "I hope that filmmakers, including myself, will cherish the opportunity to create better works and give back to our audience."
During the past few years, Chan has been working to advance China's poverty alleviation campaign and even helped farmers sell agricultural products. "I'm very proud seeing China's victory in poverty relief and the control of the pandemic."
