A press conference for the 2021 Great Wall International Folk Culture and Arts Festival was held in Beijing on Tuesday, announcing the festival will be held from Sept 15 to 17 in Langfang and Qinhuangdao of North China's Hebei province.
Held by the People's Government of Hebei and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the festival will spread and pass on the culture of the Great Wall and the Belt and Road through various activities, including performances, exhibitions and seminars.
Xia Yanjun, vice-governor of Hebei province, said: "With folk artistic and cultural groups and folk technique inheritors as the main guests of the festival, we hope folk art and culture can promote cross-border communication and spread beautiful things. The organizing committee has the confidence to make it an international communication platform for art and culture on which people can cooperate, learn from each other and make their culture prosperous."
About 600 guests will attend the festival, including officials from UNESCO and the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts, diplomatic envoys and cultural and artistic officials from various countries, as well as domestic folk art agencies, groups and artists.
