5. "Too Cool To Kill"
Xing Wenxiong's "Too Cool To Kill" is the only pure comedy set for release during the holiday. An adaptation of acclaimed Japanese comedy "The Magic Hour" by the great comedy master Koki Mitani, the film revolves around a wannabe actor who is miraculously cast in the leading role to play a hitman. However, the actress who hired him has ulterior motives, putting him in the middle of a dangerous conspiracy, and despite using his "superb" acting skills and good luck to survive, the brutal truth moves closer and closer. The cast includes comedy stars Ma Li and Wei Xiang, as well as many from the stellar Mahua FunAge comedy sect. Director Xing has said they hope the film not only brings joy to the audience but also brings hope to more people to pursue their dreams. Judging by the rave word-of-mouth reviews from advanced screenings, this new take on the source material, "Too Cool To Kill" looks set to perform well.
