China's Tiger Pan Packaging Design Laboratory cooperated with the United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) to design the zodiac stamps for the Year of the Tiger, four years after they jointly designed the Yearof the Dog stamps in 2018.
Graduating from AADTHU in 1996, Pan Hu (Tiger Pan) has been famed for his packaging designs since the 1990s. For his latest creation, he and his team hoped to send blessings and best wishes to the world with the Year of the Tiger stamps because the COVID-19 pandemic is still raging across the globe.
Pan invited Li Jing, an outstanding Chinese painter and a graduate of AADTHU, to join the team for this particular design. The design tries to show an image of a brave "king of beasts" pacing forward in the jungle. It is confident and calm, and its vast body contains tremendous energy.
The tiger symbolizes authority, health, and auspiciousness in Chinese culture and is also a spiritual totem of bravery and fearlessness. Therefore, from the UN's global perspective, the team hopes that the upward spirit contained in the Chinese zodiac animals will bring strength and hope to people worldwide.
