6. Drying books and clothes in the sun
The folk customs of Qixi Festival also include drying books and clothes in the sun, since the practice could prevent them from becoming moth-eaten. The door of heaven was said to be opened and the sunlight was strong on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month when the Dragon King dried his scales. Therefore, people often laid out clothes, quilts and the like under the sun, while scholars also sunned their books.
