The award ceremony for the 2022 "Cultures of China: Water Cube Cup" Chinese Song Contest was held at the National Aquatics Center in Beijing on Sept. 13, with contestants from 53 competition zones worldwide joining the event both online and offline.
The contest, which was held for the 12th time, attracted over 3,000 contestants from 30 countries this year. With more than 1,300 overseas Chinese organizations, schools and media outlets participating in the organizing work, the event created a friendly and open environment for international cultural exchange.
This was also the third time that the contest has been held online. To increase its international influence, organizers opened official "Water Cube Cup" accounts for the first time on major overseas social media platforms including YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok. The global finals were broadcast live via the contest's official YouTube channel and on China's leading video-streaming service provider iQiyi.
This year’s contest has become more open and inclusive and accepted music of all genres, as a way of promoting mutual learning between contemporary culture and global trends.
