"Steel Will"
Ning Haiqiang's "Steel Will" is adapted from the real-life stories of Meng Tai and Wang Chonglun, two role models devoted to iron and steel production at Ansteel Group in Anshan, Liaoning province, the largest iron and steel base in China. The film will revisit the historical moment when iron and steel production resumed on the eve of the founding of the People's Republic of China. It will highlight the significance of iron and steel production to New China's infrastructure and the Chinese forces during the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-53). With actor Lin Yongjian playing the namesake character based on Meng, the movie casts veteran actor Liu Ye as Zhao Tiechi, the head of the iron and steel plant, and actress Han Xue as Sun Xuefei, an engineer. The film opened on Sept. 30.
