The original ballet "A Dream of Red Mansions," adapted from a Chinese classic, has been premiered at the Beijing Tianqiao Theater.

Dancing on tiptoe in attires of Chinese classical operas, dancers from the National Ballet of China depicted major characters from the masterpiece, offering a visual feast through an integrating performance that blended Chinese and Western styles of art.

After performing in Beijing until Feb. 18, the troupe will also go on performance tours in Xi'an, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, among other cities.
