With the onset of summer, the Banpo Museum in Xi'an has seen a surge in visitors and students eager to explore and learn. Visitors delved into the mysteries of ancient civilizations that thrived more than 6,000 years ago at the Banpo archaeological site. Engaging activities such as traditional fire-making through wood friction and pottery crafting allowed visitors to experience firsthand the production methods and lifestyle of ancient humans. Discovered in the spring of 1953, the Banpo site covers an area of about 50,000 square meters. It unveils the rich essence of a typical matriarchal clan settlement from the Yangshao culture of the Neolithic Age, illustrating the social structure, daily life, economic patterns, marital states, customs, culture and arts from roughly 6,000 years ago. The Banpo Museum in Xi'an stands as the first prehistoric settlement museum in modern China, encompassing both the Banpo site and the invaluable artifacts unearthed from it.
