​Mount Tai intl climbing festival held to boost cultural exchange

The 37th Mount Tai International Mountain Climbing Festival was recently held in Taian city, eastern China's Shandong province, bringing together about 500 participants from 11 countries.

The event features a series of cultural tourism, sports, and economic and trade activities, aimed at showcasing the city's rich cultural heritages and tourism resources to visitors from across the world.

Wan Ting, deputy director of the Network of International Culturalink Entities under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, addressed the event. He emphasized the great significance of Mount Tai in promoting cultural exchange and dialogue between China and the international community. While highlighting traditional Chinese culture, the festival also sought to promote mutual learning between civilizations.

Hussam Al Husseini, Jordanian ambassador to China, congratulated the opening of the festival. He said that, over 2,000 years ago, the ancient Silk Road played an important role in connecting China with the rest of the world. Relations between Jordan and China will continue to flourish and their friendship will grow stronger, as Jordan remains an oasis of stability in the heart of the Middle East, he added.

During a Yellow River tourism promotion event, Nabhasporn Bhuttarichval, consul general of Thailand in Qingdao, emphasized the potential for Thailand and China to learn from each other to facilitate the development of tourism and co-invest in various fields. This event was a good beginning, and would lay a solid foundation for advancing tourism centered on the Yellow River, Taian city, and Mount Tai, she said.

In dialogue sessions, participants shared their insights into cultural heritage protection and tourism development, and shed new light on the integrated development of the cultural and tourism industries.

Participants of the dialogues also climbed Mount Tai, and visited Daimiao Temple and the Dawenkou Site Museum, among other locations.

The event was hosted by the Network of International Culturalink Entities, the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Taian municipal government.
