A group of Chinese writers and poets gathered with Turkish audiences in Istanbul on Thursday for an event exploring the depths of Chinese mythology and literature.
The event, titled "From Fairy Tale to Fantasy: The Imaginary Journey of Chinese Literature," was organized by Kirmizi Kedi Publishing House in partnership with the Shanghai Writers' Association.
Chinese authors delved into the complexities of Chinese mythology, showcasing its rich tapestry of stories and how these ancient narratives continue to influence contemporary literary works.
They presented examples from both the "timeless classics" of Chinese mythology and Chinese poetry.
Ma Wenyun, deputy president of the Shanghai Writers' Association, highlighted the importance of such gatherings in fostering cultural exchange between Türkiye and China.
Ma emphasized the need for increased translation of Chinese and Turkish literature, expressing the association's commitment to expanding such events in the future.
Haluk Hepkon, head of Kirmizi Kedi, told Xinhua that these collaborations serve as a bridge between the two cultures, significantly contributing to the introduction of Chinese literature to Turkish readers.
In April, Kirmizi Kedi, a prominent publishing house in Türkiye, hosted another event bringing together poets and writers from China and Türkiye for a thought-provoking discussion on "Translation in Literature and Mutual Learning."
