Domestic teen comedy "Be My Friend" continued to lead the box office chart on the Chinese mainland on Wednesday with a daily earning of 4.97 million yuan (about 690,100 U.S. dollars), data showed.

Telling the story of a teenage girl who travels back in time to understand her single mother's past, the film had grossed 163 million yuan in box office revenue as of Wednesday since its release on June 8, according to the China Movie Data Information Network.

It was followed by "Break Through the Darkness," a crime action movie featuring China's fight against organized crime, with a daily box office earning of 4.63 million yuan.

"Crisis Negotiators," a drama set in Hong Kong and a remake of the U.S. film "The Negotiator," came in third, grossing 3.51 million yuan on the day.

The total box office revenue on the Chinese mainland stood at 30.37 million yuan on Wednesday.
