The 2024 Beijing International Beverage Festival officially kicked off at Longtan Zhonghu Park in Dongcheng district on Friday, with beverage and food markets lasting for three days, another leisure event during this summer to boost consumption.

The festival includes a nighttime beverage market, an online and offline stores promotions. More than 50 trendy beverage brands and over 7,000 stores are participating in this event.

"The festival will last until the end of August, covering the areas of the entire city with the participation of many famous coffee, milk tea, beer, and time-honored brands. At the same time, we are collaborating with online catering and food delivery platforms such as Ele.me to jointly tap into the potential of the beverage market," said Jia Feiyue, president of the Beijing Food and Beverage Industry Association.

According to data released by Ele.me, the number of iced beverage delivery orders on the platform on June 15 reached an annual peak, showing a year-on-year increase of 109 percent. Ele.me said this growth not only reflects the increased demand for iced products and beverages among consumers but also highlights the important role and potential of instant retail channels in meeting these demands.

In recent years, Beijing has hosted various events to boost consumption. In July 2021, Beijing, alongside five other cities, was granted approval by the State Council to spearhead the construction of an international consumption center city. Beijing has since rolled out an implementation plan, aiming to take the lead in building the capital into an international consumption center city by 2025 through comprehensive actions. The beverage festival is an initiative in this effort, showcasing Beijing's commitment to enhancing consumer engagement and driving market growth.
