Shanghai Disney Resort begins to offer a wide selection of dishes combined with local ingredients at Lumière's Kitchen in the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel until late August.

"Our culinary team has brought the most authentic and fresh Shanghai region ingredients directly from fields to tables at Shanghai Disney," said Dong Yan, senior executive chef of Shanghai Disney Resort.

Summer is the ideal season to delight in Shanghai's agricultural offerings as melons and fruit ripen. Five ingredients that epitomize the distinctive flavors of local summer specialty were selected to devise over 30 dishes, Dong added.

Local produce such as the Pudong 8424 watermelons have been used in both sweet and savory dishes, from watermelon cream mochi, and watermelon thick omelet to stir-fried pork with watermelon skin. The Nanhui honey peaches add a touch to items such as roasted stuffed pork loin, roasted chicken leg, and peach panna cottas.

Nicknamed hot-tempered for their delicate bursting skins, the Pudong-native watermelon-sanlin brings flair to dishes such as watermelon avocado yogurt cups, watermelon purple rice and coconut jelly, and watermelon salad. Meanwhile, the Chongming spaghetti squash is paired with local seafood in light and summery offerings such as tossed spaghetti squash with orchid clams.

The diverse lineup pays homage to Shanghai's culinary traditions by incorporating the Nanhui luffa into dishes such as luffa in soup with shrimp and stir-fried luffa with fish puff balls.

The seasonal menu is part of Shanghai Disney Resort's commitment to promoting local agriculture and supporting community development, according to the resort.
