An exhibition of cultural heritage practices from Ningbo in east China's Zhejiang Province will take place at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Beijing, one of China's most prestigious art venues, from Aug. 8 to 25.

The exhibition will consist of works of traditional Ningbo craft techniques that have been listed as national-level intangible cultural heritage, including red and gold painted wood sculpting, lacquerware making, and gold and silver colored embroidery.

During the exhibition, the NCPA will also host a number of interactive activities, where visitors can experience the techniques up close and gain more intimate knowledge about them.

As a coastal city in east China, Ningbo, called Mingzhou during China's Tang and Song dynasties, was one of the Chinese coastal cities linked with the ancient Maritime Silk Road and bore great significance in China's engagement with the world.
