The event, also known as the Moscow International Film Festival, will be held at various locations throughout the city and will allow local residents to experience Chinese cinema. Screenings will include both live-action and animated features, such as "Born to Fly," "My Love," "Love in the Office," "Chang An," "Super Wings the Movie: Maximum Speed," "I Am What I Am," "New Happy Dad and Son 3: Adventure in Russia" and "Mozart from Space."

The film festival, spanning 100 venues with 200 daily events, will introduce Russian audiences to the latest Chinese films and encourage collaboration with one of the largest Chinese delegations to date. Organizers believe Moscow attracts Chinese filmmakers due to Russia's production facilities and digital and logistical support.

Since 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of China-Russia diplomatic relations, 2024-2025 has been designated the Year of China-Russia Cultural Exchange. The initiative aims to provide more opportunities for experience exchange and cooperation in culture and film production, especially in animation. The goal is to strengthen the two countries' traditional friendly, trusting and mutually beneficial cooperative relationship. Chinese representatives will visit the Moscow Film Industry Cluster during the film week, including the Moskino Production and Experience Park.

China's burgeoning film industry has grown into a major global player, producing content that increasingly appeals to international audiences. At the festival's "Country-Study" discussion session, Chinese executives will share insights on co-production opportunities. Topics will include navigating the Chinese market, overcoming language and cultural barriers, tailoring content for success and exploring successful joint project models. Participants will also learn about market entry strategies and industry collaboration.

The Moscow Department of Culture and the Creative Industries Agency will host the film festival in Moscow from Aug. 23-28. The event will attract delegations from over 40 countries, including China, India, Turkey, Iran, Egypt, Thailand and members of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

In addition to the Chinese selections, the festival will feature over 300 screenings of Russian and international films from more than 70 countries and regions. Screenings will take place at traditional cinemas as well as open-air pools, hotel rooftops, parks, and floating cinemas, offering a diverse viewing experience, according to organizers.
