An exhibition highlighting Han paintings and calligraphy works by Lingnan artists opened on Sunday at the Chinese Cultural Center in Ulan Bator, the capital of Mongolia.

The event, co-organized by the Chinese Cultural Center and the Art Association of Shantou in south China's Guangdong Province, aims to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Mongolia.

According to the organizers, the event also seeks to popularize traditional Chinese culture, promote the Belt and Road Initiative, and showcase the distinctive features and vibrant colors of Lingnan-style calligraphy works.

"China's Lingnan is an ancient and vibrant region that has nurtured countless artistic treasures. As a unique expression of Lingnan calligraphy art, the inscriptions on Han Dynasty paintings have captivated numerous art lovers with their distinctive artistic form and profound cultural significance. These inscriptions serve not only as witnesses to history but also as a cultural heritage that embodies the wisdom and emotions of our ancestors," said Li Zhi, counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Mongolia and director of the Chinese Cultural Center, during the opening ceremony.

"Although China and Mongolia have differences in geographical location, history, and culture, art is a language that transcends national boundaries. Through the appreciation and discussion of the inscriptions on Han Dynasty paintings, we can gain a deeper understanding of each other's artistic traditions and cultural heritage, and work together to promote the development and prosperity of the art and culture of both countries," added Li.

More than 60 Lingnan-style works are on display at the exhibition.
