A calligraphy and painting exhibition titled "Ode to the Motherland" opened Saturday, Sept. 28, on the third floor of the He Art Museum in Beijing. The event celebrates the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The Beijing Traditional Chinese Painting Artists Association and the Beijing Guofeng Calligraphy and Painting Popularization and Education Society sponsored the exhibition. The Art Center of People's Era Co., Ltd. organized and planned the event.

Wang Minghua, former editor-in-chief of People's Artists magazine, presided over the opening ceremony. Wang Xiaohui, president of the Beijing Traditional Chinese Painting Artists Association, and Meng Fanxi, president of the Beijing Guofeng Calligraphy and Painting Popularization and Education Society, delivered speeches.

Wang Minghua highlighted the common thread of the works on display as the inheritance of excellent traditional culture. He emphasized that while preserving cultural heritage, artists should adapt their brush and ink techniques to contemporary times. Wang stressed that each piece should be vibrant, distinctive, and celebrate the nation through artistic expression.

The exhibition features 200 works, including flower-and-bird paintings, figure paintings, animal paintings, and landscapes. It runs from Sept. 28 to Oct. 8, coinciding with China's National Day celebrations.
