To celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year, China Conservatory of Music will tour major European countries, including Germany, Belgium and Austria, from Jan 27 to Feb 4, bringing a musical feast full of Chinese music to the European audience.

In cooperation with the tour organizer Wu Promotion, China Conservatory of Music will perform at well-known venues during the trip, including Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Germany, Wiener Konzerthaus Hall, Vienna, Austria and Mupa Budapest, Hungary.

The concert features a star-studded lineup, with China Conservatory of Music's president and renowned conductor Li Xincao leading the orchestra. He will be joined by outstanding musicians such as the famous guzheng player Wang Zhongshan, pipa player Yang Tingting, suona player Zhang Qianyuan, and erhu player Ma Ke, all of whom will perform classic pieces.

The concert will feature works with a strong Chinese New Year atmosphere, such as Spring Festival Overture, the first movement of the Spring Festival Suite by composer Li Huanzhi, Dance of Golden Snake arranged by Nie Er in 1934 and Dance of the Yao People by composers Liu Tieshan and Mao Yuan in the 1950s. The Yao ethnic group is known for its lively folk music and dance. These pieces will showcase the charm of Chinese music and convey the festive joy and harmony of Chinese New Year.

As a top school in China's music education scene, the China Conservatory of Music, established in 1964, has also been committed to performing Chinese music. The year 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the conservatory.

The upcoming trips are part of Wu Promotion's tour series, The Grand Chinese New Year Concert, which, since its inception in 1998, has been held 24 times and has become an important brand for international cultural exchange. The concert tour has visited nearly 40 countries, attracting almost 2,000 Chinese musicians and bringing Chinese music to over 300,000 global audiences.
