Director Wuershan's "Creation of the Gods II: Demon Force" is the second installment of his ambitious mythology trilogy, based on the Ming dynasty novel "Investiture of the Gods."
After dedicating more than a decade to creating and crafting the trilogy, Wuershan saw "Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms" earn 2.64 billion yuan at the box office in 2023, becoming a cultural phenomenon and launching and relaunching the careers of both young and veteran actors like Yu Shi and Kris Phillips.
The new chapter follows Ji Fa, the future founding king of the Chinese Zhou dynasty, and strategist Jiang Ziya as they defend their homeland Xiqi. With the assistance of Kunlun immortals Yang Jian and Ne Zha, they confront King Zhou's Shang dynasty army, led by Grand Preceptor Wen Zhong and Deng Chanyu along with their demon forces.
"Creation of the Gods II: Demon Force" focuses on the defense of Xiqi and was filmed on a vast set spanning 9 million square meters with more than 50 structures. The film showcases expansive war and action scenes that come alive as a breathtaking audiovisual spectacle on IMAX screens. The mythological epic will premiere in Chinese theaters during the Spring Festival, with simultaneous releases planned across North America, Australia and the United Kingdom, showcasing Chinese culture to global audiences.
