"X" study visa

"X" visa can not alter to other types of visa

"L" visa alter to "F" visa

1. "L" visa alter to "F" visa, for short-term business, since the need of working, depend on the first class and the second class official letters of authorized units, can apply for alter the type of visa as "F".

2. "L" visa alter to "F" visa, for short-term study, depend on the official letters of universities and colleges Form JW201 or Form JW202 and "Admission Offer", can apply for alter the type of visa as "F".

"L" "F" alter to "Z" visa

Foreigners among independent investment joint venture and foreign investment enterprises

The chairman of the board, vice chairman, general manager, vice general manager, factory director and deputy factory director of independent investment joint venture and foreign investment enterprises, after entry with "L" (Travel) or "F" (Visit) visa, need to change the type of visa in the country since special reasons, through examine and approval, can alter to "Z" (Vocational) visa. Must provide the following evidential materials while apply for alteration of type of visa.

1. One's valid passport and visa;

2. Originals and copies of duplicate of "Business License" issued by administrative department for industry & commerce;

3. Originals and copies of "Employment Certificate" or "Employment Permit" issued by Bureau of Labor & Social Security in Beijing;

4. Original Letter of Resolution of the Board of Directors;

5. Official documents submitted by the unit for explaining the situations;

6. Adding the official seal of the unit when fill out "Application Form for Visa Residence Permit", and stick a recent, two in., bareheaded, full-faced photo.

Foreigners among permanent offices in China of foreign enterprises

The permanent delegate entry with "L" (Travel) or "F" (Visit) visa, need to change the type of visa in the country since special reasons, through examine and approval, can alter to "Z" (Vocational) visa. Must provide the following evidential materials while apply for alteration of type of visa.

1. One's valid passport and visa;

2. Originals and copies of duplicate of "Working Certificate" issued by administrative department for industry & commerce;

3. Originals and copies of "Employment Certificate" or "Employment Permit" issued by Bureau of Labor & Social Security in Beijing;

4. Official documents submitted by the unit for explaining the situations;

5. Adding the official seal of the unit when fill out "Application Form for Visa Residence Permit", and stick a recent, two in., bareheaded, full-faced photo.

Returned students abroad

The returned students abroad entry with "L" (Travel) or "F" (Visit) visa, need to change the type of visa in the country since special reasons, through examine and approval, can alter to "Z" (Vocational) visa. Must provide the following evidential materials while apply for alteration of type of visa.

1. One's valid passport and visa;

2. Originals and copies of "Beijing (Foreign Students) Working & Residence Permit" issued by Beijing Personnel Bureau or official letters submitted by International Exchange & Cooperation Department, Ministry of Education or Special Technicians Management Department, Ministry of Personnel;

3. Adding the official seal of the unit when fill out "Application Form for Visa Residence Permit", and stick a recent, two in., bareheaded, full-faced photo.

Foreign students "L" "F" change to "X" visa

The foreign students entry with "L" (Travel) or "F" (Visit) visa, or being waived of visa, need to change the type of visa in the country since special reasons, through examine and approval, can alter to "X" (Student) visa. Must provide the following evidential materials while apply for alteration of type of visa.

1. One's valid passport and visa;

2. Originals of "Application Form for Visas of Foreign Students Study in China" (JW201 or JW202) and originals of "Admission Offer";

3. Official documents submitted by the universities and colleges for alteration of types of visa.

4. Adding the official seal of the unit when fill out "Application Form for Visa Residence Permit", and stick a recent, two in., bareheaded, full-faced photo.

"L" visa alter to "D" visa

"L" visa alter to "D" visa, processing according to resident approval of Ministry of Public Security.

Journalists change their "L""F" visa to "J-1""J-2" visa

"L""F" visa change to "J-1""J-2" visa, submitting "Press Card"; official letter of Department of News, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; two recent, two in., half-length, bareheaded, full-faced photo (both black-and-white photophotochrome is ok); adding the official seal of the unit when fill out "Application Form for Visa Residence Permit".
