Wangfujing is the city's best-known shopping area. The street is always busy, mostly with pedestrians, but that's part of its charm. Since the middle of the Ming Dynasty, this section of Beijing has been a hub for commercial activity. Wangfujing Bookstore, one of city’s largest bookstores, features many English language publications, particularly travel books, while the Oriental Plaza is Wangfujing's most popular mall. At the northern end of the street is the Wangfujing Food Market. [Photo by Kou Lai'ang/China.org.cn]
