This year's heaven worship ceremony at the Temple of Heaven will be held from February 10 to 14 during the 9th session of Temple of Heaven Culture Week

The heaven worship guard of honor as well as the music and dancing performances are the most important part of the Temple of Heaven Culture Week, which takes place every Spring Festival. It re-enacts the grandeur of ancient Chinese emperors worshipping heaven.

A royal procession parade will showcase static whips, a Gang barrel, a canopy and eight gold items. Hundreds of actors will dress up as emperor, officials and imperial bodyguards, and perform a series of worship etiquettes and traditions.

Ming (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) emperors often retreated to the Temple of Heaven, built in 1420, to worship Heaven and pray for a bountiful harvest.
