Beijing's Daxing district will start construction on 30 industrial projects in 2013, with a total investment of 59 billion yuan (US$9.46 billion).

Projects include a new Mercedes-Benz engine plant, Yuekang Pharmaceutical Group and Apple data center.

District officials will also continue to support on-going projects while simultaneously introducing new ones. For example, Biotech Pharma Co., Ltd, the world's largest antibiotic production company, began operation last year. The company is well-known for producing "liquid gold," a powerful drug used to combat malignant tumors. The biotech company expects to produce 400,000 batches of the new medicine in 2013, doubling its output over the previous year.

Daxing district has also streamlined local enterprise management, and the approval process for projects less than 300 million yuan will be finished within 30 days, while projects totaling more than 300 million yuan can receive confirmation within 30 to 60 days.

In 2013, the district signed 10 new projects with enterprises such as SINOPEC and Sino United Publishing (Holding) Limited, with total investments reaching 16 billion yuan (US$2.57 billion).
