The first phase of subway Line 14 in Beijing will be put into service on May 5 to serve the upcoming Ninth China(Beijing) International Garden Expo.

The line, known as part of the supporting facilities for the six-month-long garden expo taking place along the western bank of the Yong Ding River in Fentai District, has seen all stations on its route complete construction, and 70 percent of the bridge sections have so far been built.

The line runs from Zhangguozhuang Station to Xiju Station, a transfer station with Line 10, which is to form a full loop going into operation in May.

The Ninth China (Beijing) International Garden Expo will open on May 18, and continue well into November.
