A total of 14 colorful activities will be held during the ongoing 8th China Strawberry Culture Festival, which will last until May 10.

The festival, which kicked off on March 22 at the Rising Yard Farm in Beijing’s Tongzhou District, offers visitors great opportunities to taste dozens of different kinds of strawberries cultivated with seeds from home and abroad.

Various activities, including a “Strawberry of strawberries” contest, a photography contest, Tongzhou’s intangible cultural heritage shows and exhibitions of creative products from the strawberry culture, will take place during the festival.

Several hundreds of first-rate, special species of strawberries from across the country will rival for the championship title.

Another highlight may be the local snack street, with Taiwanese snacks made on the spot attracting many gourmet lovers.

Tongzhou, known as one of the major strawberry producers in the capital, can offer nearly 2 million kilograms of quality strawberries annually, earning more than 60 million yuan (US$ 9.5 million) in revenue.
