Beijing launched its first three-year development action plan for its southern area in 2010, aiming to narrow the so-called "north-south gap."

When looking back on the past three years, a great deal has been achieved in various aspects.

Here, China.org.cn has listed the major achievements over the three years since the South Beijing Three-Year Development Action Plan (2010-2012) was implemented.

Over the past three years from 2010 to 2012, a total of 290 billion yuan (US$46 billion) was invested for the development of Beijing's southern areas.
