Peach blossom in Pinggu District, Beijing attracts numerous visitors in spring every year. The district, known as home to the world's largest peach blossom area which covers a total land area of 220,000 mu (14,666 ha), is dubbed one of the top ten destinations for viewing flowers in the world. It is popular among tourists who are eager to feel the spring air after a long cold winter. The15th Pinggu International Peach Blossom Music Festival kicked off on April 18, 2013, highlighting a series of sideline events, including the Beijing Midi Music Festival between April 29 and May 1, as well as the Yaji Mountain Daoism Cultural Festival, the 3rd Pinggu Stone Appreciation Festival, a gourmet festival, a photographic competition, a large-scale blind date event and some charity activities.
