The design and landscaping projects undertaken by the Huangxiang Group at the garden park are expected to be completed by the end of April. The projects include four special flora gardens: Crape Myrtle Garden, Cherry Blossom Garden, Lilac Garden and China Rose Garden. There will also be eight "flower islands" and a professional indoor flora exhibition hall.

In total, the group will contribute more than three million pots of flowers and more than 10,000 seedlings to the garden expo, said Lin.

The expo will feature a wide range of stunning floral varieties and plants that will bloom in different months, including rare and exotic species, all of which have been either cultivated by the group at its vast Beijing base, or acquired from domestic and foreign sources. Visitors will even have opportunities to view blue water lilies and clivia minata with green blossoms.

Commenting on the various species to be showcased, Lin said: "Visitors can view Chinese Roses in May, bulbous flowers, such as lilies and tulips, in June, water plants in July and August, and chrysanthemum in September and October. And then, there will be a flower arrangement competition in November. "

He continued: "They will be greeted by a broad sea of lilac trees which will begin blooming when the expo kicks off on May 18. The garden, the largest among these special floral gardens, covers a land area of eight hectares, with more than 6,000 varieties of lilac tree from over 20 species which bloom with red, purple or white blossoms."

The 3.6-ha Chinese rose garden, next to Jiangsu Garden, will highlight more than 100 varieties of Chinese Rose, which is the official city flower of Beijing.

The garden expo will run from May 18 to November 18.

Huangxiang Group, a subsidiary of Caoqiao Industry, is specialized in gardening, as well as flora and seedling cultivation, trade and landscaping. The group is located in Caoqiao Village of Huaxiang Town, Fengtai District, which has been a center of flower cultivation in Beijing--and North China--for more than 700 years.
