5. Are there any regulations on the copyrights of the entries?

For the selected entries, if there is no special declaration from the participant(s) concerned, the Organizing Committee and its partners shall have the rights of displaying, exhibiting and broadcasting on public media, and also have the rights of compiling or publishing them without any payment; these works can also be used for non-commercial activities, such as public welfare advertising and art education; the videos, static images, copies with Chinese/English subtitles and trailers of the entries may also be used by the Organizing Committee for publicizing and exhibition afterwards. Once the entries are submitted to the competition, their participants are deemed to have accepted all the items in this regulation. The Organizing Committee reserves all the rights for final explanation, change of competition review, and replevy of the awarded titles, reward money and prizes.

6. What is the judging process?

1) Qualification Review

The Organizing Committee will examine the qualifications of the entries and inform those who submitted them to make any necessary supplements or corrections. The applicants should finish the required corrections within 10 workdays. For those who fail to make the supplements or corrections within 10 days, or who still cannot meet the criteria after doing the required supplements and corrections, their works will be removed from the competition.

2) Awarding Evaluation

All entries shall be collectively reviewed and voted on by the Jury Panel. The awards list will come out after the vote. The voting will be carried out anonymously with a system of "one person one vote".

3) Notification

After the final review session, the Office of the Organizing Committee will inform the participants of the results via e-mail, telephone or fax.

7. What kinds of people make up the Jury Panel?

There are 17 panel members including outstanding scholars and documentary directors. The awarding evaluation will be open, just and fair.

2) Prizes:

All award winners will be presented with high quality modern photographic equipment. (In 2012, the prizes were Leica cameras.) Exchange activities will be organized for both Chinese and overseas prize-winners if possible.

9. Other notifications

1) Universities and institutes are encouraged to organize or recommend students to join collectively.

2) The Competition is not responsible for any loss or damage of the entries during posting, or for any loss, error or damage of the entries caused by any other unavoidable factor.

3) After the list of awards is released, the organization committee will inform the winners. The award will be regarded as being forgone automatically if the award is not confirmed and claimed within two weeks after the notification is sent.

4) The official website will advise the participants of any changes to requirements or regulations. Any contestant who does not agree to such change(s) must withdraw from the competition. Those who don't inform the organization committee of withdrawal within seven workdays after the announcement will be regarded as accepting the changes.

5) Entries with Chinese and English subtitles are welcomed.
