Located outside Guang'anmen in Xicheng District, Beijing, Tianning Temple Pagoda is one of the earliest tall buildings in this ancient capital. According to researches by eminent Chinese architect Liang Sicheng, the pagoda was built in the ninth year of Emperor Dakang's reign in Liao Dynasty (AD 1083). The pagoda is 57.8 meters high.
