The 2013 Beijing International Book Festival, also known as the Ditan Book Fair in the past, kicked off in the Olympic Park on September 15, 2013. The festival, themed on "Beautiful Chinese dream, great book festival," will run until September 21. The book festival showcases hundreds of thousands of books, as well as audio and visual products presented by publishers from home and abroad. It offers a rare opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the spectacular cultural atmosphere and usually attracts numerous citizens who not only buy books they want to read, but take part in various activities, such as lectures by renowned scholars and authors, enthralling cultural performances and international art exhibitions. The event is organized by a number of government authorities, including the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, the CPC Lhasa Municipal Committee, Lhasa Municipal Government and Beijing Municipal Bureau of Press and Publication (Copyright). Lhasa serves as the City of Honor of this year's book festival, the 11th edition of its kind. [Photo from Xinhua/Translated by Zhang Junmian]
