The congress adopted the Beijing Declaration, which calls for global efforts to create a better future for the seed industry.

ISF President Tim Johnson extended his gratitude to those who had exerted great efforts to make the congress a successful one. He said, “China has rich seed resources and a broad seed market, and quality seeds will help us fulfill our dreams.”

A total of 1,452 participants from 60 countries and regions, including the United States, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Denmark and Uruguay, gathered at the three-day congress to share technology and expertise on quality seed cultivation in their respective countries, as well as their views on the future development of the global seed industry.

They reached a consensus on an array of issues, including the development of the seed industry, grain security, food safety and nutrition.

The event, dubbed "the seed industry's Olympics," combines meetings, forums, business talks and exhibitions, providing a platform for all countries to showcase their latest achievements in the seed industry and seek cooperation opportunities.

1,200 technologically advanced new varieties in various crops from across the world were displayed during the event.

This is the first time that the congress, the 75th of its kind, was hosted by China -- by the ISF and Beijing Municipal Government.

Beijing is developing itself into the "capital of seed industry," aiming to foster a national center for S&T innovation and a global center for trade and exchange in the industry.
