The 2014 Beijing Long-Walk Carnival will kick off at the Yeya Lake National Wetland Park in the city's Yanqing County on August 23.

This year's event is themed "Walking in Yanqing, rooting for China's bid for the Winter Games." There will be a 5-kilometer route and a 20 kilometer-route.

The Yanqing International Walking Festival will also be launched on that day.

The carnival aims to augment Beijing and Zhangjiakou's bid to co-host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, in addition to advocating a healthy and green lifestyle among the capital city's residents.
