A 246.8-meter-tall sightseeing tower, located near the south gate of the Beijing Olympic Forest Park, welcomed visitors for the first time on August 18, 2014 as the Ninth Beijing Park Festival opened at the park.

The tower, the sixth tallest in China and the 22nd tallest in the world, will officially open to the public in November. It's the only sightseeing tower in the world that consists of five independent towers, making it resemble a bundle of mushrooms.

Visitors on top of it will have a bird's-eye view of almost half of the city, including the park itself, the Drum Tower, the Forbidden City and Fragrant Hills Park.

Beijing Olympic Forest Park, part of the legacy of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, is a hot tourist destination. It had received a total of 247 million visitors by the end of 2013.
