"The all-purpose bus card is expected to be used in six cities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shijiazhuang, Zhangjiakou, Baoding and Langfang next year," the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport officially expressed on June 20. In the future, taxis, inter-provincial buses and inter-city railways will also be accessible by card in the six cities. Carrying the card, citizens can travel around conveniently.

Currently, Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province are doing preliminary investigations. According to the plan of the Ministry of Transport, the all-purpose bus card system will be fully used in all the three areas by 2017.

It is reported that people with Beijing's all-purpose bus card can take a bus, an underground train and a taxi and shop in the supermarket. However, the card isn't widely used because the card's taxi settlement is difficult.

Besides, more problems need to be solved, including the mutual recognition of cards from different cities, the updating or upgrading of card-reading equipment and different cities' public transport subsidies. It's worth mentioning that Beijing's transport card may be put into use in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province.
