Tourist feast kicks off in Pinggu during National Day holiday

To be a center of the World Leisure Congress in 2020, Pinggu, a rural northeastern district of Beijing, is going to provide bountiful tourist scenery and programs to the influx of visitors in the next two months.



To be a center of the World Leisure Congress in 2020, Pinggu, a rural northeastern district of Beijing, is going to provide bountiful tourist scenery and programs to the influx of visitors in the next two months.

From Oct. 16 to Oct. 18, the district will host a series of tourist activities, including a forum on leisure tourism, a carnival for 80 families with kids and 15-kilometer hiking.

From Oct. 1 to Nov. 18, the district welcomes visitors to pick fruit en route to local orchards planted with peaches, apples, pears and Chinese dates.

From Oct. 1 to Oct. 30, visitors can come to the district covered with undulating red leaves. Visitors can enjoy the scenery by either paddling boats or climbing mountains. Additionally, the Jinhai Lake Resort in the district will provide a number of programs including camping, outdoor yoga, as well as farming and fishing for visitors.

The tourists can either drive or hike in the canyons and mountains surrounded by the belts of red leaves.

From Oct. 1 to Oct. 3, the district will host a music festival featuring domestic singers such as Xu Wei, Richie Jen, Penny Tai and the British band Modestep. The festival, organized by online video provider Youku-Tudou, is planned to provide more interaction between the singers and the audience.

Amid the weeklong National Day holiday from Oct. 1 to Oct.7, 2015, the district will hold a curio fair for antique collectors. At the same time, visitors can experience a rustic lifestyle by visiting the mountains, canyons, orchards and villas in the district. Moreover, the hot spring in the district will also offer good regimen therapies.

Routes for one-day visits:

Downtown — Pingsan Exit, Jingping Superhighway — South Mountain of the Xiong’er Zhai Village East Ditch — Old Fountain Mountain Resort — picking fruits — back downtown.

Downtown — Jingping Superhighway — Northern Freight Exit (Xiage Village) — Jinhai Lake Resort — lunch at the local village — picking fruits — back downtown

Route for two-day visits:

Downtown — Pingsan Exit Jingping Superhighway — Eastern Beijing Stone Forest — lunch at local village — Tianyun Mountain Resort — local village of Bolitai — picking fruits in local orchards — back downtown
